Default 80mm BBK or P/P the stock T/B

Which is better. port & polish the stock throttle body or by the BBK 80mm throttle body?

Right now the LS1 is pretty stock, but my TSP 228R cam is coming soon along with heads. ( as long as the wife doesnt bust my ***** to much )

For the money, I went with a proffesional products 85mm tb on my stroker. Comes with the adapter and was easy to setup. They also have an 80mm. Just another option. They can be had polished for under $200 shipped.

Under 200 huh? I was just wondering for performance sake. I mean if i can port and polish the stock throttle body and be within a couple HP of an aftermarket one, then why not do that right?

Port and polish the stock........ Dont waste your time with the 80mm..... Your intake is a 78mm so your not gonna see **** for gains... Port and polishing the stocker is good for 8-10hp and you will get better throttle response, Its cheaper and better.

I'd actually like to see some dyno data that shows an improvement over the stock unit. I ported mine and I guess you can say that when mated together with a SLP lid it does make a difference.

I will put a properly ported stocker up against any 78-80mm aftermarket TB anyday.

I went with the PP mainly for looks. Although it has to flow better than stock. I used to have a ported stocker as well. If you search back like 6-7+ years you can dig up threads where there was dyno's with stock/ported stock tb's. The ported stockers are proven to show a gain. Give or take 5-8 rwhp.

Also i've seen Bo White on these boards forever and he's maybe someone you can get to port yours. Since from what i've seen, he's right up there with the best of porters!!

Here's a couple pics of my Professional Products 85mm. Eventually I do plan to go to a Fast intake.
