specs on the cam?
what heads?

is this a old school SBC or an LT1?

figure the ls1 is making 330hp at the crank.

assuming the cam in the sbc is decent, and the heads flow halfway decent....i would think it could be making 350hp.

so depending on the difference in drivetrain, i think the 94 might take the win. but its really hard to say.

Don't know, but from what I've seen, you will lose. Same vehicle? Weight considered? Heads are whats gonna kill you. What year/ casting # of the heads?

Id put my money on the LS1, but without knowing what vehicle and especially what heads, its a tossup.

the heads are stock not sure what the number is on them. What is the easiest cheapest way to squeeze like 30-40 more hp out of this motor?
Thanks for your input

Nitrous will be best bang for the buck.

Long-Tube headers if you don't already have them.

Performer plus cams are approx 204/214 and under .450 lift with a 110 LSA.
With that setup tuned to perfecton you're still going to be shy of beating a stock LS1. IMHO You would be lucky to get over 300 HP at the crank.

Vortec heads.

To do that, you'll need a different intake manifold as the bolt locations are way different from a standard old school SBC head. 062 and 906 I believe and the casting #'s your looking for.

LS1 for sure I had an old 80 firebird with a heads and cam sbc 355 and it is nothing compared to an ls1. Stock ls1 heads will out flow a lot of aftermarket old school heads

Talking about racing is way cooler than actually racing... why do people even bother racing when we can just talk it to death? U don't need a Snell helmet to bench race, unless ur bench is as fast as mine!

My bench is hella fast! Its got a spoiler, rice shooter pipe, and NO2 stickers to go hella fast! I just swapped my bench hardware to grade 8 anodized greatness, which should totally give me like 35 more mph in the eighth! I went so fast last time I went bench racing that they made me put a 5 pt. harnesses in. I'm pretty sure i can pull off a low 7 in the quarter with my bench with that new hardware-- whatchu think about my setup? about a 0.0001 second 60' ?

On a real note, running a similar motor, here's what I did:
I'm running ported stock (iron) heads, cam a lil bigger than urs, in a 355 with a holley 650 and long tubes into a 2.5inch H-piped system. At about 3600 lbs, (prolly 3750 - 3775 with me in it at the line) tuned pretty good, I ran a best of 14.4 with a th 350 and an open diff with a 60' of about 2.1 or 2.2

From what I've seen at the track, LS1 cars are faster than that- most at least in the 13s. Those not in the 13s need a driver mod to get there.

Not great, but thats why I have an LQ4, 4L80E and 9" waiting in my garage.

I'm yanking my built 355 TPI motor (461 fuelie heads) out of my IROC in favor of a 6.0 because the 355 is a turd. My best time with that motor was a 13.99. Granted those heads are a terrible match for TPI. When I swap my vortecs on that motor I fully expect it to run mid 12s in my GTA... but not with a cam as mild as that edelbrock job.
