Kook's Headers, Advice Needed

Whats up everyone? TTP's having a sale on Kook's headers for $700. It's just the headers and collectors, the y-pipe is sold separately. I've got a few questions...
1) Is this a good sale price for Kook's? I don't want to buy them if I can get them for cheaper.
2) They're uncoated. Living in NJ, would this pose a problem?
3) Can I just use my factory y-pipe for now, or is it necessary to get the Kook's y?

Thanks for any responses in advance :)

1) yes thats a good price, sales and GP are the best bet to get the best price on things. you wont find kooks cheap new at least
2) the headers are stainless steel, you should have no problems
3) no you can you use your stock Y. you'll need the kooks or another one with some modifications, or a custom one.

:drive: Kooks here I come

Jrp I'm a little confused, you said that I can use my stock y, but then you said I'd need either the kooks y or a custom one. Does this mean I can make a custom one out of my stock? Sorry for my confusion and thanks for your help!

I think he just had a typo, you will have to get another ypipe, I have the Kooks headers and Ypipe and they look amazing, I definatly recommend them. I used to have Hooker headers, they are good also.

Yea you should invest in the stainless steel Y also, it goes great with the headers, good choice on them also.

Wes, any need to get them coated? I live in NJ, and I heard that coating keeps underhood temps down.

jrp Dec 11, 2003 12:11 AM

ya, sorry bout that, it was a typo :).

No prob bro, thanks for your help? Hey what do you think, should I fork upthe extra dough and get them coated? Would I notice a difference in reliability or anything?

Above is a pic of the stainless KOOKS with their catted y-pipe. I am very satisfied with these headers and would never go back:)

Those are a thing of beauty... I love mine..

If you go stainless you don't coat them. Just go with the Kooks Y-pipe too, Its not worth tryong to piece meal things, I hear QTP's Y-pipe is a really good fit on Kooks headers too. good luck

Hey guys, can anybody give me a link where I can buy Stage 8 locking bolts? Also, should I go with new gaskets, or just reuse the stock ones I have?

Wes

I inquired about the Kooks ORY from More Perf., they said that they're aluminized. How do I get a stainless ORY for the Kooks?

just reuse your old gaskets, since you have an 02 they should be in good condition. same with the bolts. the bolts are only tq'd down to 18lb-ft of tq and stage 8 locking bolts arent really neccessary.

Thanks for the advice man, I'll just do that and use some loctite on the bolts.

Lawman: I didn't know the y-pipe was alumnized, I'm going to have to check that out...by the way, nice numbers on your SS :thumb:

Thanks!

If you discover a stainless variant of the Kooks ORY, let me know!
