Can't get stock y off... Aight i'm getting pissed. Any tips on getting the factory y-pipe off at the intermediate pipe? I can't get the y and the I'pipe apart. I cut the bolts on the manifold flanges so thats off, and undid the clamp in the intermediate pipe, and it still won't come off. I've soaked it in PB blaster, and have spent the last few hrs letting it soak, and beating the piss out of it with a hammer towards the front, it won't budge. |
Get all the panther piss off of it and heat it up with a torch... It'll come off it is just a pain in the ass... |
sawzall! |
Don't have a damn torch... FML |
Get an exhaust pipe disconnect tool. They are cheap. It squeezes the two sections, then you tighten it to spread them apart. |

the clamp is what has crimped it some if i were you i would go to the back of the car and take loose the exhaust hangers so it will move and try to pull the I pipe away from the y pipe |

BFH and patience. I spent forever on mine also... I just kept beatin on it an it eventually came off. |
I'll beat on it some more. A friend of mine will be around a harbor freight tomorrow, anyone have a link to one of these disconnect tools? |
Another option is buy the correct sized exhaust U clamp. Tighten it on the pipe. And that gives you something to beat on. That has worked for me before. |
sawzall worked for me |
|
i just used a sawzall on mine, and still had to cut a bit more for the ORY to fit right :) |
i got the bolts holding it out, then jus swung it back and forth andit slowly slid out... oh, i did spray some PB Penetrating lube into the joint, not sure if it helped, but i did it... |
