Default Where to tune after H/C/I/LT's

Well i finally finished my winter build! I'm now running a torquer cam, 5.3 heads ported polished with 2.02's, Lt's with cat delete, ud pully and so on.
The problem is that i just took a serious pay cut at work and im still gonna need to get this thing tuned....I live in the metro detroit area and so far the only shop i talked to wants $600 for dyno and drive tune.

Question 1.
Do i really need a dyno tune to run safe. i know i might leave a few ponies on the table without it but all i really am interested in doing is making the car driveable and safe.

Question 2.
Does anybody on here know someone in the detroit area that could give me a better price on a tune? i know i shouldnt skimp on this but i really have no choice....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

yea dude your seriously gonna need a tune. its very annoying to not have a tune and pull up to a redlight only to have the car shut off everytime. plus the car will run like crap. you really need to get it tuned before you start DD it

Yea get a mail order tune till you can find and afford a dyno tune, That should keep you safe...

EDIT: Don't know who's head you are running but TSP knows that cam better than anybody so you may want to consider them.....

A mail order tune will get you set till you can afford to get it dyno tuned...

I have extremely competetive prices on mail order tuning... i have a few tunes on file for the torquer cam. Check out my site and/or shoot me a pm if your interested or have questions!

i just want to thank everybody for their help. i actually had one member on here offer to help me tune as soon as he gets time. i have a friend that has a similar setup that we will try and i may even try the tsp mail tune.
i love this forum though. i also am a member to the corvette forum and very few on that forum do any work on their own, they all just give you prices for shops!lol
everybody on here is so helpful, such a great community!
thanks ill keep ya posted!
