Question Flowmaster collector vs. Magnaflow collector?

Going to customize my hooker y pipe. I'm using the pipe and just changing out the collector. The Hooker piece leave much to be desired in terms of a collector. I've seen the flowmaster collector but can only get it dual 3 in and a 4 inch out and would have to buy the reducer for it. The magnaflow collector is dual 3 in and single 3 out. Just haven't seen it used in many applications. Hoping the better collector will get rid of some rasp as I'm looking to remove the bullet muffler in the I pipe so I can rearrange my cutout so it doesn't sit so low and put a QTEC on it. Any info or advice on if it will even be worth switching the collectors is appreciated!

I also have the 3" to 3.5" flowmaster to make up for the shitty design on my Pacesetter y... I got mine from MTI. I did this same set-up on my Mac y & it did help tone done the rasp pretty well.

MM98,
Did you put the flowmaster collector on your Pacesetter Y pipe. If so I would really like to see it. The Hooker crap is the same as the Pacesetter collector. How hard was it to make it fit? Thanks.

How did you guys reduce the 3.5 down to the needed 3 inch?

Yea I'm doing the same set-up on my Pacesetter y this weekend.. I'll install the headers & y then take it to an exhaust shop & have them install the y-collector while on the car to insure a proper alignment w/ the i pipe.. Sorry I don't have any pics of it now, but check out the Mufflex y pipe... It has the flowmaster collector on it, so it will kinda give ya an idea how it'll look. Also you can either have a exhaust shop expand your i pipe to the same diameter & weld it to the y-collector or you can use a reducer w/ a band clamp.
Hope this helps ya out.

John, what kind of muffler are you running as of now??? The Hooker aerochamber will reduce alot of rasp & even more so with a good y-collector.. I used to have a single in/out 40 series Flowmaster w/ my Macs & ory, let me tell ya, the rasp that set-up made was horrible. Swithed over to just the Hooker muffler & new y-collector & now the rasp is pretty much eliminated.. I would highly suggest the use of the y-collector not only to help out on the rasp, but to also get better flow because of the smooth transition into the I pipe that it produces. Goodluck & I'll let ya now how the new set-up sounds..

Mike.

I have the B&B Triflow catback right now. The muffler really helped with the rasp. Now I just need to get the collector squared away.
