Wink GMMG Questions, make me buy one!

I have been thinking of getting the GMMG setup for quite some time now but I have a few questions.

Is there any drone between 1800rpm and 2000rpm? That is one of my complaints with my cutout is the drone in that range which is usually the engine speed I am at in 6th gear at about 75mph on the freeway! How does that range sound inside the car with the windows up?

Can I install the system myself? Meaning, does anything need to be welded if I am running stock manifolds, cats and y-pipe? Also, can the install be done with just a set of ramps?

How loud is the GMMG out the back? I feel that my cutout draws a little too much attention from the po-po sometimes and I often close it when I see them around. Do you think the GMMG draws too much "unwanted" attention?

Finally, am I going to **** off my neighbors when I start my car at 5:45am to go to work...

Thanks for any help with the above questions!

We have the GMMG cat back system on the 2000SS and it is the best sounding system that i have heard. We bought a Hooker cat back system and installed a cut out and as soon as we heard the GMMG we bought it.
There is no droan inside the car at any rpm and the sound out the back is great. The system by itself with stock manifolds sounds great and is not too loud. we have installed the FLP longtubes since then it it is a lot louder but still sounds great. And yes you can install this system yourself and there is no welding needed.

Second vote here. No drone. Mine got louder and just a little raspier once I took the cats off. But nothing unbearable. Have been running this system for a couple of years and only get good comments.

No extra attention unless you are really getting on it.

The neighbors will get used to it. Heheh.......

Well can't run long tubes here in CA...legally, but even if I did put them on at some point, I would still run cats.

But assume I will always be running stock manifolds, cats and Y...thanks and keep 'em commin'!

You won't regret buying one. I do, on the otherhand. My LM sounds great, but I like the deeper sound of the GMMG. I want to switch over but $850 with the oval tips (a must if you have a T/A) for exhaust is a little much. You might slightly enrage your neighbors at 6 in the morning. I know when I come home late from a party or what not at like 4 my neighbors get very angry, and LM isnt as deep as GMMG. All in all, GMMG is the best out there I think.

If you've got the money to spend, GMMG is the best option...

hooker
mac
magnaflow
LM
D/D
true duals

can all be had for under 400 bucks. 700+ for a catback is crazy , to its defense it does sound good, 700 dollars worth, thats another story

yeah, but is it 304 stainless steel ?? that adds value to an exhaust system.

Ahh no point in trying to convince anyone of anything. Comparing the GMMG to the ones above is like comparing a Camaro to a Vette........two different worlds........

GMMG is the best finest quality exhaust I have seen so far. I have had mine for 3 years now and it looks brand new on my daily driver. Why pay more for a Corsa that you are going to have to keep replacing the muffler on? 700 shipped isn't a bad price considering the costs of the other exhausts without shipping.

Also, it is the best sounding exhaust in my opinion (like that matters). It is about the perfect noise level with stock ypipe and cats -- not to loud you are going to draw the wrong kind of attention, but loud enough that you know its there. Also, with stock ypipe and cats you won't have any drone inside the car. You can't say that about a lot of the exhausts out there.

But like Cammin said - no point in trying to convince anyone of something they don't want to be convinced of.

Well, I am convinced! I know it is a quality product, and I don't mind spending the money, however, I just posted the original questions to find out if it is going to be exactly what I want and to clear up a few questions. Thanks for all your comments. Now all I have left to do is find someone locally so I can hear it in person! Thanks again!!!

you get what you pay for. the GMMG is by far the best sounding exhaust out there. I've had it on my car for about two years now I have manifolds & no cats. there's no rasp. I've had people stop me to find out what exhaust I'm running. I sold my factory SS wheels so I've got about 300 in mine installed. as far as performance, my car stock with a lid and the gmmg, a4 ,on street tires ran a 13.10 @107.
besides a flowmaster makes our cars sound like a truck.

dont wait to hear it in person, i did and i regret it...just cause it does sound so sweet. i just wanna know how it sounds with headers, i wanna be loud with minimal rasp. does it sound good with LT's and no cats? i heard it on a stock set up and holy crap! all i have to say is awesome. its deep and mean and i want it now.i have a flowmaster now and it sounds good but damn i think this will wake the car up and really make it sound mean....but can someone answer me on the question about long tubes?

I've had the GMMG on my car for about 4 months and it sounds AWESOME !!! It is definatlly worth the price.

WS6FirebirdTA00, I ordered my pacesetters and o/r y pipe about a week ago and I'm hoping I get them soon. As soon as I install them I'll let you know how mean they sound and hopefullt get a video clip up of it if I can figure out how.

GMMG!!!
