Sorry been MIA for a while...Winter does that to me...

I spent about a couple weeks to a month going over this forum like crazy reading up about headers. I never even knew what the hell Motor Mounts were until I started researching headers, and read all these "Take my advice, do motor mounts while you do headers," posts, so I got scared and took the advice. I even posted a few polls prior about how people felt about different brands of headers.

Ultimately, my choice was made because of these factors:
1) Of the posts I read, the vast majority were either Pacesetter owners or previous pacesetter owners. That meant that if I had a question about my Pacesetter headers, there was a very good chance that there would be other people on this board that would know exactly what I'm talking about. After the Lid, this was my very first modification, so I was definitely going to need as much help as I could get.

2) Price. @TSP, the LT + Y pipe combo was pretty cheap, like $700 or something. Other better brands were >$1000 and from what I read, there really isn't a great ROI on getting more expensive ones, unless you plan on getting other major upgrades, in which this becomes sort of a supporting mod. Since this was my first project, I wasn't sure if I was going to get so frustrated I'd never mod again, or if it would be a good experience, so I decided to go with the cheapest reputable choice, which were these.

It's been a year, and I live in Chicago, so I threw all weather at it, including snow, and so far it's holding up well! That was my biggest fear, that they'd rust through, but I got the coated ones, and no issues!

I did my motor mounts today and did not have to remove the alt or the ac. Or belts for that matter. Lol. I took the pedestals along with the mounts out. Then put them back in with the new mm installed already.

I have always put the motor mount bolt(the big long one) back in backwards any time I have taken them out. It makes life so so so much easier if you ever have to take the engine off the mounts i. e. oil pan, rod bolts etc.

Wow this is great thanks everyone including the guy that had the idea to take off the pedistals and paint them. Great idea and it looks great. Gotta order my mounts and then its time to wrench!

if you change the motor mounts by taking the pedistals off does the A/C and alternator still have to come out. I really don't feel like taking them out.

I took my complete driver side mount w/ped out and back in w/no alt removal.
I'm held up getting to the passenger side but the times I was under there to me it looks like the starter may need to be dropped, not sure about the a/c comp yet... some say unbolt the comp and just move forward & suspend w/wire or coat-hangers.

Thanks for the awesome write-up. It will become very handy when I do my headers and motor mounts. Just wish it would be a little warmer out, haha.

I'm trying to remember, but I think I just used ratcheting wrenches. I bought a set just for this job. Now I don't know how I lived without them for so long.
