Patience and a variety of 10mm anything as well as tiny hands to fit under your cowl but the most important thing is an IN lb torque wrench, likely 1/4" drive too. Here is more detailed http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=5 Plus depending on what year LS1 engine you have you need to determine if you want to swap to an LS6 valley van/pcv system as well, if you need to do it, now is the time when you swap intakes. IMHO.

Coolant by-pass for the front and coolant plugs for the rear....

or

A hammer and chisel to remove the tabs underneath.

Other than that normal hand tools like a ratchet set, various screw drivers, and bandaids.

Lots of band-aids. Stupid shark teeth on the cowl

oh, a 3/8" disconnect tool for your fuel line as well.

Other than that just a good bit of free time.

FYI for ya...Those things that scratch your arms under the cowl are the push/pull fasteners that hold the weather stripping to the cowl...you can pull them up and then they will not cut up your arms...

Here is a link that will show you how to do the install with pictures ..http://ls1howto.com/index.php?article=5

did you buy an aftermarket version or a used one? i found a guy to swap with and needed nothing but egr block off plates and an average set of tools. the cooling lines under the intake make it fit really snug but itll settle. big thing is watch that oil sending unit in the back...really easy to break for a first time.

I'd buy an oil pressure sending unit, if you don't break yours, return it. Most people (including myself) break them when they take their intake off.

FYI ... When you remove the old intake lift it straight up and then move it forward..if you tilt the front end up you will break of the oil pressure sending unit..if you do it correctly you will not break your sending unit off ....

I should have done this!! I just broke mine about an hour ago!

Small hands and beer helped me the most, but also used many differt sizes of sockets including some deep walls, ratching box wrenchs, zip ties to help hold up bolts when removing old intake. Make sure you give your self lots of time.

you need the search button lol. theres so many threads on this same exact question.

but im not gonna be a dick so....dont bother with the coolant lines chisel the ribs under the ls6. Be well aware of the sending unit in the back,I was luck I never broke mine. You can reuse your gaskets, bolts, and thats all I can think of for now.....
