Default cracked waterpump???

Ok, here is a picture of what the inside of my water pump looks like. The car never had any cooling problems and this pump seemed to work great. There is obviously a piece broken off. I have no idea where it is at.....I guess the pump should be replaced??

I would definitely try to find that missing piece, It might be stuck in the water jacket and could obstruct flow later on.

Don't worry nothing has broken off, that is simply were a casting nub is machiened off to enable the press install of the water neck I've done 4 LS water pumps on my 99' Z28 (167k) they all have this or something similar inside of the neck. On an LSx the Tstat is on the inlet or HEATER HOSE side of the water pump, so that neck in your pic is the outlet.
