bolt on's ideas please..

hey yall i just got my new motor, its completley stock now for now i am just planning on doing only bolt ons. Whats some good ideas yall have as far as best headers, y pipe, intakes, tb, maf, pulleys etc etc. i wanna get as much power i can from only bolt ons. thanks any ideas are appreciated

Kooks has 2" primary headers but their expensive from what I read, believe its ati that has the best pulley think it runs about twice as much as the other pulleys though. Exhaust is pretty much up to the car owner and the sound they want, power wise everything will outperform stock and you generally get what you pay for.

You can get a fast set up used for decent prices now, supposed to add 15+ over the ls6 intake in most cases. If you stick with stock ls1 or ls6 just get a ported throttle body its not too much.

As far as the 85mm maf's are concerned everyone will tell you this is better than that, I have an slp one and it works yet is probably trash talked more than any other one you can get.

The slp ram air unit is pretty good, Im guessing its a newer formula your talking about.

Get the rest of the SLP Flow-Pac components, but from what I read, until your HP gets way up there, no need for a new MAF...

Put in an e-valve to add a volume control to your exhaust, AFAIK open will help your top-end mostly.

Mail order tuning offers a good bang for the buck! Link in my signature...

About how much power will a mail order tune add. Mods in my sig

Premium headers, Kooks or ARH, 1 7/8". Mid-price, TSP 1 7/8" setup. Budget, coated Pacesetters.

Y-pipe, something with the Flowmaster merge seems to be the popular trend now, if you don't want to go true duals.

TB, get the stocker ported, MAF is fine as-is stock.

LS6 intake swap is a must, unless you want to spend the money for a FAST 90/90 combo (in which case, you wouldn't need to bother porting the stock TB, you'd just buy a 90mm one with the FAST intake).

ATI is "the best" UD pulley (although I've yet to see anyone explain what makes it better) and costs more than twice as much as others...Powerbond seems to be a popular choice, and SDPC has a pretty good price on the pulley, new crank bolt, and belts.

Pick up a lid (a lid is a lid is a lid, they all seem to fit like shit but do basically the same thing, regardless of brand-name premium price). I wouldn't bother with any of the mainstream "air intake kits" like the SLP or K&N - a paper filter and, if you want, the chris1313 setup. SLP and K&N setups are just engine-bay glitter, really.

After you get all the bolt-ons done, a tune is going to help (especially with headers), be it mail-order or shop-tuned.

2 inch primaries are way too big on that engine. 1 3/4 is much more appropriate.

how much is a mail order and where is a good place to go for that?

LS1WS6dreamer Aug 18, 2010 11:26 PM

From everything i've read, about 4 posts up. "Frost", thats who will end up doing mine.

Frost knows his stuff. Def worth the buck and 1/2.
