Is it ok to run open shorty's?

I know the issue of heat will be an issue but would it be ok for just a few minutes? I dont want to burn my valves.

I know im going to get called stupid but its just a question

No you wont burn your valves... Why does this keep coming up, we need to make a "No you won't burn your valves with open headers" sticky.

Where that hot exhaust will be blowing is more of a concern.

I've heard the argument that one of the main problems is when you shut it off and cold air hits the valves... should do that with shortys.

Not with our cars and even shorty primary lengths.

What your thinking is more along the lines of dragster engines and their primaries.
