Default qucik oxygen sensor questions before long tube install?

i just got some long tubes, does it matter if the O2 sensors are installed before or after headers are installed?

also should i buy new sensors since they are removed already?

I would move over to the Bosch13111 sensors... they have long leads that negate the need for O2 extensions (which have been problematic on some cars).

You don't have to buy new sensors if the ones your already have are working properly, but you will need extension's, I have the plug and play extensions from Texas-Speed and they work great. I wouldn't reccomend making the extensions yourself though, that is where error could possibly occur. You could aslo do what Frost said and just buy longer ones, Bosch makes a quality product.

As far as when you put them in, I would wait until you have the headers on the car, that way when you are wiggling around to fit them in, you don't have to worry about hitting or damaging the sensor. Just make sure to put some anti-seize on the threads before you install them, and be careful not to get it on the sensor itself!

Good Luck!

Im with frost on this. Its like this...If you keep your old o2s then your gonna need extensions to make them work. If you just get new ones now you can go with the vette o2s (13111) and eliminate an additional connection. I use the 13111s. They are really long but if you just ties them away its fine. Just tie wrap them away from the hot headers.
How old are your current o2s?....just out of curiousity

How about Denso O2s? I read they are good:

http://www.camarohomepage.com/project/part3.htm

"We use a Denso on any O2S replacement as we think it's better than the Bosch or Delphi units.

The Denso "O2S" is better because its aluminum-oxide "trap layer" covers the sensor element and resists damage to its platinum electrode and a porous, PTFE (Teflon) filter on the sensor's atmospheric side prevents moisture or contaminants from degrading accuracy."

Top is Delphi, Denso is the bottom one.

If you're interested, you wouldn't need to use O2 Extensions at all.

Check out Post #14 of the following thread.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...g-install.html

The entire thread has a lot of good info.

I agree with this.

AND, the 13111 have higher wattage heaters which you'll want as the O2 sensors are:

1: Further from the engine so they'll run cooler (bad);
2: Headers radiate more heat than stock manifolds making them run cooler (bad).

I've bought Denso plugs from Advanced -- sorry, don't have the O2 part # -- they should be able to look it up easy.
