Default question about front and rear covers

I have a 2004 ls6 shortblock out of ctsv and was wondering if I had to have ls6 front and rear covers or if ls1 covers are the same? And what is the BIG difference in a ls1 and ls6 short block besides comp ratio? Thanks (newb)

i think covers on all LSx are the same ...kinda a design thing for interchangeability.....unless you have the LS2 with that sensor on the front......dont know much about the LS6 block..........maybe some one with more know how can chime in

pretty much everything is designed to fit between blocks.......LS1 to LS6 swap should be no problem.....i would get a LS6 valley cover if you dont have 1 tho

You are confused about what you have and motors in general. Short blocks dont have compression, and even if they did, which they don't, the LS1 and 6 would have the exact same. There are some small block differences but other then that they are identical short blocks. When talking about complete engines, the LS6 has some subtle differences but again its really nothing major.
