Need tune after 243's swap?

I'm getting 243's from my friend. Free!! Will I need a tune after I put these on? Anything else I should know, buy, ect for the head swap? Thanks for any tips or info guys.

You will need new cometic head gaskets, a set of ARP bolts and the ARP thread cleaner, an ice scraper with a shop vac. You'll also need a good torq wrench and some thread lubricant. Degreaser and a fine sanding block to clean the 243's up if they were used.

If you got them for free then why not save up for a cam and do it all at the same time? Im pretty sure you will need a tune when swapping to different heads.

Send them out to advanced inductions, and have them spec out a cam for you with those 243's.... Bolt on some serious power, then get a tune imo!

You guys have a good point. I'll save up for a cam, ect. I have a yank ss 4k on the way. So maybe I'll do everything while I'm working on the car. Now I'll really need a new rear end.lol The 243's only have 10,000 on them. They are from a gto.

If I were you, and had a free set of 243's.... I'd for sure get them worked over. It's well known that if you get those 243's in the right hands...you could easily be bolting 50+ HP onto your car when you put them back on. I've been saving my money up so I can send my heads into these guys when funds permit. AI simply knows their shit. I would check them out

I'm putting in a yank stall for him. He just got new heads today from TEA. So I told him I want the 243's. He was cool with that deal.
