considering hooker longtubes? DON'T!!! Wow, Ok let me start by saying...what the hell happened to you hooker??? I have bought over 50 pairs of hooker longtubes in the past for customers and my personal cars..well i took a little break from them and went with another company. a month ago i placed an order for a set for my new personal car...just got them today, and I will not install them. GARBAGE!! the flange is not milled flat like they used to be, the sealing surface is paper thin in spots, they absolutely will not seal if I install these. I will post some pictures up later, but i waited a month to get them, and all for them to look like a set of black jack headers for a 2nd gen.:barf: the 02 sensor holes aren't even drilled anymore.....seriously? garbage.:mad::mad::mad: i don't want to wait another month for some freakin headers that look like puke. absolutely ridiculous and very unprofessional to send these out to a customer. http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg127/z28vf/1-1.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg127/z28vf/4.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg127/z28vf/3.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg127/z28vf/2-1.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg127/z28vf/6.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg127/z28vf/5.jpg |
there's a huge thread about their quality (of lack there of) |
really? i heard they got bought out or something..but this is just pathetic. Anyone want these things? i bought them through a sponsor who bought them from hooker..sort of a drop ship to drop shipper. so it will be a nightmare to get money back or even anything out of these. $300.00 plus shipping if anyone is interested lol. Ceramic coated non egr or air. I mean...this really blows, i needed longtubes because my cats are clogged and shattered into pieces internally. i had to wait a month to get them, and i'd rather drive around with clogged cats. |
I heard back in the day they made good stuff. Not anymore. My buddys hooker cat back makes all kinds of rattles.:eyes: |
it is like hurst, back in the day they rocked, now....they blow freaking ass!!!!!! |
wow man sorry to hear. Two years ago when I bought my SS I bought the 1 3/4 hooker comps and they are still on my car. I am very happy with them. |
have they moved production to another country? |
^^^ yeah i just installed hooker LT's on mine.. happy how it turned out... sorry things didnt go well for you |

thats very suprising. I have always run hooker Lt's on my cars, never had a problem with them. I have a set of 1 7/8" Lt's now and dont have one problem with them (knock on wood). Sorry to see the poor quality you recieved. |
Why dont you try to work something out with the vendor you got them from? At leat for a refund or something since I know you dont want another set. |
Wow. Sorry to hear about that. I have Hookers on my SS now and haven't had any issues. Put 'em on a little over a year ago. |
wow that's disgusting :bomb: |
i bought some hooker longtubes and since have swapped (maxing out my car) and i looked down into the collector and the fuckin primarys were all smashed and shoved in there....it was absolute garbage, i will never buy from them or recomend them again. there was absolutly zero craftsmanship while building those headers, it looked like one of the primarys was acctually half the size it was supposed to be because it was bent into the collector |
Whats wrong with them? The raised weld is to promote a good seal and is easier to seal up than a completely flat flange that may or may not have warped slightly in the welding process. You'll notice the weld is ground down level with a belt sander. You cant exactly do that on a flat flange The angled section on the header flange is to clear the CTS for the drivers side and plug or aftermarket gauge sender on the pass side The HO2 ports should be super thin so you can knock them out with a punch or simply ram them with a drill. Not everyone put EFI back on so instead of ordering plugs for the holes, they give you a knockout IMHO, these little things show a good company tweaking the design to satisfy customers across the board. You're just too dumb to know what these things are for, so you post up about how awful quality is |
just got mine on a week ago...very happy with them |
anyways, just a warning. hooker has gone to hell, i don't know why or what exactly happened. I understand they are trying to improve the product...but they had it perfected before. now it just looks like a two year old put them together. vendor said they will take them back, and i ordered some pacesetter's. Never had a problem with them. I'm really sad about this whole ordeal because i really used to like the old design! |

In function those probably would have been fine... but you're right the quality is atrocious! The chinese shit looks better it pains me to say. |
