What do ya think about my exhaust plan 1 7/8 LTS merge to 4" to 4" cb
Im going to redue my whole exhaust. Talked to ARH today and they can make me the Y with a 4" merge for a 4" cb. So Im thinking ARH 1 7/8 x 3 LTS into 4" merge to 4" cb. But I can only find 2 makers of 4" cbs...mufflex and the sinister.
I know it would be so much easier to just do a 3" merge but damn it I want the pipe to be right for future mods...heads, cam, and whatever. Also I have to wonder how tight it really is getting 4" pipe over the axle.
Any opinions?

I've looked into the same things in the past. 4" Stainless is going to be heavy. I'm guessing that's why they don't make it.
I think the cheapest option would be the Hawk's Sinister, then just pick out whatever muffler you want. Either that, or cut it right after the axle, throw a reversed merge on it, and run 2 3" exhaust pipes for CME....

If you used aluminized piping it would be ok. I had the mufflex 4" system for years it fit but was real close to the gas tank. It melted the plastic where it goes over the axle. Oh ground clearence was not very good with the 4". We even made it where we could unbolt and drop the muffler off at the track. That worked good.
I'm running 17/8" headers now that have 31/2" collectors. Flowmaster makes adaptors that go from 31/2"- 3" they are cheap. If you added a cut out and ran the 3" all the way back it would be ok. How about a cut out off of each header? I'm running true duals ,but would like to go with an over the axel set up again. So I'm just throwing out ideas.

You have some good ideas. See, I wanna run duals but I have an issue up here in CT. Im due for emissions and I wanna pass the visual. So duals are out.
I called ARH and they can make me the ORY with the shells of the cats on it which solves that problem.
I dont want cutouts period. I was never a fan.
If I end up just using a 3" merge will it really matter what size the primaries on the headers will be?

I already have Heads/Cam & Im kinda in the same boat as you. I currently am running a 3" exhaust and I know Im right around the whp where its becoming restrictive. I made a thread about this problem in this section if you want to check it out.

I dont think you would benefit much from bumping up to 1 7/8" right now with the mods you have, but they would be benefit you if you plan to do heads/cam in the future. Or if you ever bump up in cubes.
