Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT LS1 EFI Intake Manifold
#23
I took it back because other than the testing you had done I had no evidence to see otherwise. But after doing some digging I too was confused. Edelbrocks press release of the dyno that showed a 30.6 hp gain listed the parts in the motor they used. The cam choice was a 207/220 IIRC on a 118.5 and CNCd LS1 heads with stock compression. The graph they posted didnt seem to lack low end. And the other example that I could validate was on a setup like mine which makes me want to run it now. An LS2 with CNCd 243s and a 224 cam, like I have, bolt ons and a 6 speed gained 40+ at the wheels over an LS2 intake, gained 10-15 tq under the curve and never lost low end and broadened the powerband. So you can see my confusion. The only other personal example I know of personally is my friend made 470 at the wheels on a stock headed MS4 cammed 346, but again with it being a MS4 low end is lacking already so thats not valid in my book.

I have a very close friend who has a moderate Heads/Cam setup and was running an LS6 intake on your typical run of the mill Fbody with bolts ons and DR's.
I'm not interested in spelling out every little detail, nor would he appreciate it, but its an MS3 car with wicked ported 243's with a stock bottom end. He went from a 7.03 1/8th mile ET to a 6.80 1/8th after the accompanying tune and picked up lots of area under the curve on the dynojet after 4400 rpm. Minor below 2500 loss, 10.7hp gain (avg) from 2500-4400, and after 4400 his peak gain was 24rwhp/19rwtq over a mega ported LS6 (I dont care to argue the validity of porting an LS6 intake since the argument was settled with the dyno gains of 7rwhp). I did the tune. I did the porting on his 243's. This information is beyond refute.
The pro flow xt rocks.
That is all!

You're welcome.
I think we'll see a lot of copying and improvement upon this design. I think the FAST is GREAT! .......for twice as much money.
I'm a poor gearhead, or atleast a frugal one. I see half as much money, just as much power and in addition to looking badass, and im all over it.
Time will prove this manifold to be a quality part.
This is coming from someone who was on the fast 78 (first production run) preorder list. Still have it!
Just as fast has improved their design by leaps and bounds, so will eddy. They've been around long enough to prove their resolve to me.

Since I don't own edelbrock I can't offer any direction or sympathy regarding your distress regarding their heads.
Yes on a chassis dyno sir, hence the rear wheel suffixation, and personally I could give a **** about rwhp numbers since it was such a solid drop in ET. Dynos are not racetracks. Their the same thing as a timing light... Merely shop equipment.

I've been running the proflo for a couple weeks now. I picked up power everywhere. I also picked up a good amount of mid range. That's with the stock TB and Maf. I will dyno the car once I get a 90tb and bigger Mar and lid. This intake kicks ***.

You need to cut the cowl. You will lose the stock wipers. I had this set up and loved it. I did not dyno after the intake swap but I felt the power pick up everywhere.

Just out of curiosity. to the fellows who are running these now, what were you running prior to the edelbrock? I'm in the process of trying to upgrade intakes for a Forced induction build and have been looking for an ls6 intake. these edelbrocks honestly aren't a whole lot more. Just wondering if it's really worth it?

I just swapped out my ls6 for a proflo in my car and love it. Feels stronger all throught the mid and upper rpms. I have a simple heads/cam lq4 in a fox body that weighs 2920 with me in it and I was honestly hopping for alittle low end loss. Wasnt enough to really notice by any means.
