can a bad coil destroy an ECM?
Not an ls1 engine, but rather my Nissan Frontier Truck.
My truck was towed to the dealer, and it was determined that the ECU was bad, and replaced under some federal emissions warranty. So they replaced the ecu, and now say that all 6 coil packs are bad. They say coil packs are not covered under warranty, and will need to replace all 6.
My question, can bad coils destroy an ECM? That is what they are claiming. I think that it is the other way around, a bad ecm, caused the packs to go bad, but i don't know.
can someone help me out with this?
thanks

Dealer told my buddy the same thing on an 04 ford escape. Bad coils fried the pcm. Got em both new off egay problem solved. I don't think they're trying to rip you off. edit: especially if you have 100k+ miles. They build em to last.........5 years.
