It was either standard or optional on LT1 Firehawks and SS cars. It has superior flow to most crossflow style mufflers, and very good sound. About the only thing you can buy, in a stock style configuration, that outflows it would be the LM series or the single out 4in Spintech catbacks. For those not wanting to be very loud its sounds would be deemd superior to the LM series. Apparently, it is now out of production, which will drive demand.

For the trash talkers...listen to one in person that has headers. You'll change your mind. They sound really good and are not loud inside but have plenty of volume outside.

Agreed.
I really don't see what the big deal is on this exhaust piece. I watched the video of that '00 Z28 with the exhaust, it really doesn't sound that great. Sounds pretty quiet for having headers though, that's all I can really say.
I think the single exhaust outlet looks like a V6, and limits the potential of the sound. IMO, the best pipe setup for an LS1 is to get true duals, it bests any Y-pipe out there. That's one of the reasons why the 2V 4.6 sounds so good, I'm pretty sure it's an H-pipe. I think SLP stopped making this exhaust for a good reason, just my opinion.

You are missing the point. It is one of the bests exhausts for tone quiality without excessive volume for a catback that maintains the stock configuration. The 01-02 optional SLP exhausts for SS cars were nearly as good. Once you get into duals you are no longer "technically" EPA and legally compliant. If you must maintain a stock configuration, this exhaust is high quality, has good tone, and great flow (better than almost all crossflow options). Depending on your needs this is a great exhaust.

Mustangs came from the factory, and were therfore EPA certified that way. Henceforth legal. Unless you build your true duals directly from the stock cats back on an F-body you would be illegal. Any relocation of a catalytic converter, factory or not, is illegal. Lets assume you are in the strictest state(California) any you wish to be legal (No longtubes etc), but want the best flowing exhasut you can get that bolts right on, this is basically it.

my biggest thing with the totl set up is i think it looks the best out back. tucked up nice and tight. my biggest issue with the 4th gen camaro is tail pipes look like **** on them no matter what you do....."not trying to start a pissing match here just my opinion on it"....... i battle myself every time i look at my car wanting to rip my tail pipes off even though they are cut, tucked, painted and cant get any more inconspicuous then they are but i love the sound i have out of my set up i have now.
would love to get my hands on a totl and like said earlier in this thread they are gone in a heart beat as soon as there listed,or there beat to **** and to far gone/hacked up to have the nice fit and finish these setups seem to have.
