Just bought my first LT's

I just bought my first pair of long tubes... ever.. Lol I can't wait until they get here :D. Lol yeah I'm excited. Question: I'm running open headers and no cats until I can afford exhaust, I have a very limited budget, so what do I do with my aft-cat o2 sensors until I get them tuned out? Exhaust I plan on getting is TSP Rumbler X and the headers I got are TSP 1 3/4" primaries...

You do not use the rear o2s. Simply remove them and tuck the connector somewhere out of the way. You do not need them to run the car... only the front ones are important. You will obviously have a check engine light for rear o2s until you tune that out as you said. Also do not run long on open headers... you will mess up your front o2 readings and kill them fast... at least thats what I have read.

could i fab up my stock exhaust to the headers while i wait to get the new exhaust?

I'd just get the TSP Y pipe. It's like 130 bucks, and at least you can connect your stock exhaust to it.

Running open headers is ridiculous sounding, you'll draw WAY too much unwanted attention, and the fresh air will kill your O2's quick.

Congrats on your first LT purchase!

No, the stock Y will not work with long tubes. U can do what the poster above said for a cheap $130 fix.... then you can sell that y-pipe later when you get the TD's.

Thanks for bringing this information up before I installed them. I didn't know that the o2's would burn out

Dude, where do you live that running open headers on a street car is an option? Yikes; you'd hate that pretty quick.

lol you probably know where i'm at then.

Karl101 Mar 7, 2012 11:57 AM

lol i really didn't think that there would be anything wrong with open headers...

You'll like the open headers at idle and wot....everything inbetween sounds like shit. You'll enjoy them for about a week. When the duals go on you'll lovem.
