Pro's and Con's of exhaust wrap

Don't have the funds for ceramic coated headers and my painted Pacesetters are in new condition. Has anyone used exhaust wrap, if so, what kind do you recommend? Only want to do this once.

Dei seems to be the best. It will rust eventually, I'd like to try out the eastwood diy ceramic coating on a set of mild headers.

How would the wrap be on a set of stainless headers?

I plan on wrapping mine. Bought a used painted set so if its rusts or cracks im not out much. Hoping for less heat through the floor/firewall. Only con Ive been told is they keep the heat in the steel unevenly and leads to cracking. And of course wrap looks ugly compared to pretty ceramic lol

I wrapped the crap outta my SS turbo headers.. fingers crossed that they don't crack..

What about the possibility that the wrap could trap oil and become flammable?? Im not interested in wrapping anything but I have heard the argument against it.

Well I went ahead and ordered the DEI titanium wrap. I've seen pics of it installed and looks like carbon fiber kind of... not that you'll see much of it anyway. As to the trapping of oil and fire issues I would say if you are leaking that much oil you have a dangerous situation to begin with. They make a spray on coating for the wrap to stop it from absorbing fluids and such anyway.

Paint those headers with high temp paint before you wrap them.

Mine were wrapped with a heavy duty fibered material, and if they somehow got wet, and didn't have a chance to dry out, you get rust.
You can taylor the wraps around each tube ok, but it was difficult to wrap around the places where the tubes joined together. So, as long as one wraps the heck out of it, with multiple layers, then it's not completely covered.
I know that folks here use what they can afford, but IMO, it looks amateurish, and I wouldn't do it again.
