AIR system modification for MAC's I remember reading somewhere that when I install my macs, I have to modify the AIR system somehow or else it will tick? Or maybe the thread said that I have to get a certain gasket to keep it from making noises. I live in California so !AIR won't work. Thanks in advance. |
buy the block off plates for speedinc.com...i thik they are a few bucks a peice...get the gaskets from the local dealer (you'll need two sets i think)...and drill a small 3/16ths hole in the middle of both of them. bolt that in between the headers and AIR system...the ticking will be gone. if you are handy with tin snips and creating stuff (which i am not so i just did it the easy way)...you can buy sheet metal and cut them out using the gasket as a template...5/16 inch holes for the bolt holes, 3/16ths inch hole in the center for the air flow. id replace the check valves when you do this too just cause it took me 8 days before i got the block off plates to cut up and already by then my check valve was almost gone on the driver side. good luck takes only a few minutes to do, nothing major. |
What year is your car? MAC's were made for 98-99's. You'll need to slightly "re-bend" your air tubes on a 00-02 or get a set of 98-99 air tubes from the dealer (or friend). |
