I picked up a set of mac mid length headers in a trade. I was wondering if I can bolt these up to the stock y pipe, or do I need to purchase the matching y pipe? The car sits very low, so I probably wouldn't be able to run an aftermarket y pipe.

btw, the car is a 2002 z28, no performance mods done.

ill start. wouldnt be worth the time and effort on the install. sell them, save ur pennys and get a set of LTs. NOT SLP!!!!!! they sit VERY low. have to see if any other member can give some input on what LTs sit tight on the car. sry for the bad info

I'm not interested in buying different headers, this car is a 130,000 mile daily beater. The headers are sitting here, I'll put them on if they bolt to the stock y.

just from my understanding, mids are like shortys. really dont do much. but if ur that bored, knock urself out then. DK about bolting up tho

i have them and my wye pipe sits a little lower then stock but still has plenty of room but i do have the mac ory.

They will not bolt to the stock y-pipe without modification. They are longer than shortys. So they do require a mac y-pipe

People knock on the Mac mids but my 98 formula made 340 whp with just an slp lid and Mac mids

i still say go with some LTs if youre going through the trouble of installing them.

Macs are fine, LT's will make a little more midrange but upper rpms will be very similar. my car ran 11.4 @ 124 with macs, shitty heads, and a small cam before i went turbo

You already have them, run em'. They will make good power still. But you need Macs Y-Pipe

Complete nonsense with regard to the mid-lengths not making power. I had them on my 99 formula and went from 315 RHWP to around 338 RWHP with Mac Mids, offroad mid-pipe. The 99 had a lid, borla catback, ASP pulley prior to macs going on.
