How Low are LT's?

I have SFC's installed on my car along with Eibach sportlines(LOW). Will long tube headers hang any lower than my SFC's ??

Thanks, Ray.

Depends which SFCs you have, I have global west and you can't see them on the car, unless you put your head under my car.

But overall, the y pipe that comes with your LTs will probably hang 1" lower, maybe 1.5". You have sportlines, so I would be extra careful when driving around speed bumps

the new y pipe will hang 1" lower than the SFC's or new y-pipe 1" lower than the stock y-pipe?

I Only have problems now on really big speed bumps, but as long as I dont let the suspension compress at all while going over them, no scraps. Oh they are BMR SFC's. Thanks.

Never really measured, but the lowest point is right under the drivers seat, which makes it real difficult to hit against something unless your not being careful. I just go real easy over speed bumps. As for the rest of the y pipe (not under the driver seat) and the actual headers, I don't think you could possibly hit those

Someone told me SLP LT's hang down pretty low.

2002 Trans Am Mar 29, 2004 12:31 AM

Yeah, SLP header do hang the lowest.

IMO if your gonna buy headers you should look at QTP, Kooks, or whoever else has the grott design.

I have the QTP setup, haven't had a problem yet, and I don't have to worry about rust cause they are stainless steel

LS1undercover Mar 29, 2004 12:34 AM

What is grott desiegn? Does QTP offer ceramic coated

2002 Trans Am Mar 29, 2004 12:35 AM

no they only offer stainless steel, why would you want ceramic coating anyway?

2002 Trans Am Mar 29, 2004 12:38 AM

oh the Grott design was a header that was out a few years ago, the person who sold them (Roger Grott) was not the best business person in the world, so he is done, and here we are today with QTP, kooks, PPC, Thunder Racing, and so on and so on. Its basically just how the headers are setup, which is possibly the best design currently

LS1undercover Mar 29, 2004 12:41 AM

How much difference in under hood temp. between stainless and ceramic coated headers? Anyone know?

2002 Trans Am Mar 29, 2004 12:49 AM

You will never notice a differance in under hood tempature, if there is any. Its hot as hell whichever you go with.

Stainless is worth the extra money because you won't have to worry about your headers ever rusting like you would with ceramic coating. Personally I think ceramic coating is full of shit, I would rather save my money and go with mild steel.

How do your QTP's sound and perform?, Cats/!Cats,muffler?

2002 Trans Am Mar 29, 2004 01:00 AM

I have the QTP emissions setup. Basically QTP headers with A.I.R tubes, Y pipe with cats, going into a corsa catback.

The sound is unbelievable, very quiet at idle (corsa) but screams once I get on it. I get a lot of compliments, nothing sounds better in my opinon.

If I could do it all over again, I would either go with the non-emmsion headers and the emmisions y pipe (solely for looks, to get rid of the A.I.R tube) or go with the dual QTEC y pipe

Performance is great btw, turned my car into a beast. Now I can't wait to install my torque converter, I should be really happy then

Razor Mar 29, 2004 11:07 PM

ok Sounds like it will not hang lower than my SFC's do..ls1undercover, thanks for stealin' my thread :moon: j/k!

Ray.
