I've tried both band clamps and U-Bolts. I got fed up and took my **** to an exhaust shop and had them bolt some 3 bolt flanges with gaskets to the headers. 100x better now. I had the option of v-bolt clamps, but it was much more expensive. I wish I had done it now, but 3 bolts aren't hard to remove.

Is it your primaries leaking or where it connects to the y-pipe?

I wrap a 2 inch wide piece of aluminum foil around the joint, and then secure it with a band clamp. The foil compresses pretty nice into the groove and acts as a gasket. Lots of miles and no leaks here. Every time you work on the exhaust you must replace the foil gasket though.

I did the aluminum foil with band clamps and still had the leak so I said screw it and had 3 bolt flanges welded in. No leaks no compliants. The band clamps were two bolts anyways so its not like I'm saving time over flanges lol.

I use strips of 1" wide header wrap under the band clamp and it works great.
