Default Bolt-on gurus I need your help.

With winter coming I want to buy a couple of bolt-ons for my Ls1 vette.I would like to keep stock heads(853 I believe for 2000 LS1?) but I don't know how much power I can make with them.

Car is currently stock and I am planning on doing long tubes,YT valve spring,LS6 intake(or suggest me something better?) and a cam.I'll probably go G5X1 or G5X2.

What can I expect as far as RWHP?Should I consider a head swap?
Budget is limited 3-5k parts only.

Thank you.

i think prior to buying parts you should set a goal for the car. be it rwhp, et or my favorite with regard to performance...a trap speed.

there are more ways than one to skin a cat. what are YT valve springs?

with the x1 or x2 and ls6 intake i think you'd be looking at mid-high 390s hpwise. you could go with a fast setup, but i think this relates back to the end goal as you could have a nice set of ai altered heads for the same money.

car a m6 or a4?

When i had stock 853 heads on my camaro (Cam only,bolt-ons,4.10s) i put down 390whp.. you can expect more or less since every dyno is different. i would expect anywhere from 380-415 out of a cam only set up with your heads and some bolt on parts. Definately, at the very least, go with an LS6 intake. But if you can afford a FAST intake, do it.

I agree with all of the above, i think you should set a goal first and do some research on what it takes to get there.

Some more info on your car would help.

IDK why I typed YT lol sorry.I don't have high expectations since I'm keeping stock heads. My car is my DD,I race my friends and people I know.I don't plan on going to the track that's why I don't have goals, just trying to get the most out of the bolt-ons I can afford right now.

If I hit 380 RWHP or 410,then I'm ok with that.I just want to get the most out of my setup.Well spent money produces good number...

Car is M6.

Might be thinking out of the box a little here but you can buy an awesome rotating assembly from tsp for 3 - 4 grand and have yourself a pretty mean engine that's ready for what ever you want to do next do long as you try and have a plan on where you might want to go with it ( f/I or a crazy n/a set up ) you obviously won't get the best possible power from it with out at least getting your heads machined and a cam upgrade ( keep in mind the standard ls1 heads have great potential themselves in the hands of some one who knows what their doing ) but it's bound to be a great start and not to expensive if your confident with rebuilding your engine. As for power figures my 04 gto ( it's actually a commodore, I live in Australia ) is running a 383 stroker with standard heads cnc'd, 11.5 comp with a 240's cam, 4-1 headers with 100 cell cats and twin 3 inch running on 98 pump gas and makes 460 atw with 884 ft/lb, on street tyres and with me driving I made a 12.7 at around 118 mph I think, so with some semi slicks and ( and a better driver lol ) it's got the potential to knock on the door for an 11 sec pass

Do you want to do anything with suspension? What about tires? Or just mostly concerned with roll racing?

Staying stock heads and wanting the best performance, I'd definitely look into a FAST intake as suggested, but I would get a custom spec'd cam, check out Pat G/EPS cam threads. They can make fantastic power without being huge.

Id throw in an under drive pulley in that list, truck MAF or bigger MAF (or speed density), FAST, true duals or electric cutout with a big y-merge, Electric Water Pump, ported stock TB or aftermarket, if you really want to get the max out of your setup, also theres E85, light weight clutch setup, light weight driveshaft.

are you going to beat on it? i would just do full exhaust LS6 intake or bbk one, cia tune and maybe appearance. not sure if your vette has the bulky wagon wheels or the favorable thin y2k 5 spokes, but find some nice OEM factory Z06 C5 or C6 wheels for added rubber in the rear. then save some money for a LS2 stroker

Well, my roomate did a XS power long tube set up..awesome finish and fit.. he already had the corsa exhaust..

i found a new in the box gen 1 a&a corvette procharger kit.. $1200 steal with injectors and everything...

we installed everything, including blower cam, new springs, and essentials, new fuel pump, got it tuned..

long story short, car has 190k original miles on the block, 550 rear wheel... and we did that on a really low budget

I'm only concerned about roll racing.I don't have a lift to do an engine swap or a rotating assy job.Currently running stock size tire Michelin Pilot sport.

Are you doing the labor or are you having someone else do it? With 3-5k on a vette you might be able to get a full exhaust, ls6 intake, and cam. Did you factor in a good tune because no matter what you decide you should get it tuned.

keeping stock heads...I'd opt for a custom cam from one of the aforementioned gurus. if that's not enough pony up for a fast 92 setup. I've seen 400 whp c5s trap low 120s with minimal effort. maybe a set of 390 gears and a nice twin disc clutch setup.

The BBK SSI intake is cheaper than I thought so I will probably buy this instead of the LS6 intake.
