This is about the only other pic I have. For the left tube I took a 2" mandrel bend, split it length-wise, and added about 1 1/2" to the width. I calculated the area of the pipe to be the same or more than a 2 1/2" pipe. Clearance to the gas tank is tight. I put 2 layers of stick-on thermal barrier on the tank for extra insurance.

The only thing I would have done different is v-banded it in a couple of places to make installation/removal a bit easier. Still, great work and well thought out. Wish I could take mine to the stands for a few weeks/months to do something similar.

Again, awesome work.

I agree on the v-bands, though those would have added a good amount of cost. And are a PITA to weld on cleanly without a TIG. He has flanges at the bullets at the rear, and looks like he has a connection just before the axle too. Probably pretty easy to get it apart. Smart.

But that set up is by far the coolest, well thought out, and well fitting dual exhaust Ive seen to date. Im immediately going to start taking some measurements and doing some thinking to build this for my thirdgen.

Seriously, great job on that. And thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.

Is there any way to get some under car pictures of it installed? Like with the car on a lift or anything?

J.

Thanks guys. The V-bands cost too much IMO and I built the flanges so they were free. The front section is really easy to remove, the back not so much. I don't have access to a lift, sorry.

You obviously have ADHD. This is way to crazy a design to have come from a chemically balanced brain. That being said, it is hands down my favorite. I can't say enough about it. Thanks for sharing.

Mines not finished yet. But I did the best I could over 2 lunch breaks on 1 jack stand. I love how it tucks up. No rubbing at all. Except I broke a tack weld so it does rattle. I need to make some small adjustments so my powersticks clear the tq arm.

The winters are long in Iowa, have to do some thing to keep from going nuts LOL. Thanks for the kind words. I use the dual system every time I drive the car. It's one of the best updates I've done.

Very nice set up. It looks very well thought out and says a lot about the builder. Nice job indeed. Plus I'm sure your neighbors thank you for it. Ha

Thanks. The welding is the easy part. Fitting the pipes so you don't have to fill The Grand Canyon is more difficult LOL!

Wow, very impressive!
IMO, If you have the spare time you should do this as a side-business.

I love how well it tucks up. Mine tucks up almost as good as yours without cutting. If I notched the frame like you did off the driver side my exhaust would virtually not be seen from the side of the car. My headers are the lowest point in my exhaust.

Damn I wish I knew how to weld. My local tuner fabs up TDs and charges $2,000-2,500. I can only imagine what this costs.

I'd love to see back to back Dyno's of this setup vs traditional TDs vs a Pat G ORY

Great work

Regarding the welding, it's really not that hard. I did all of the exhaust work with a little 120V Hobart Handler 140, it's perfect for anything 3/16" or less. I've done a lot of stick welding but not much MIG at all. It just takes a steady hand and a little practice, and like I said - fit the parts so you don't have to fill too much.

I'm about to attempt my own true dual system with 3" both over the axle on the passenger side and I have a 8.8. My car is lowered almost 1 1/2". How much lower than stock is your car?

My car is lowered at least an inch in back, but its hard to tell with big tires. Sorry to say - Dual 3" pipes over the axle is going to be extremely tight. Clearance to the gas tank will be the problem. The big axle tubes on the 8.8 make it that much worse.

I don't really have the suspension travel I'd like even with 2.5" pipes and the oval over-axle pipe. I'm thinking about narrowing the fuel tank to make more room.
