Default 2 Different 5 pin MAF's?

I'm nearly done with my swap and I have a question about my mass air flow sensor.

The LQ4 and harness I'm using is out of a 2003 Express 3500. The 5 pin MAF from the van was busted, so I grabbed another 5 pin MAF out of a nearby truck with a 5.3 thinking they would be the same. They are both indeed 5 pin, but the truck connector is different.

I went back and chopped off the truck pig tail to splice into the van harness. Do any of you know if this will work ok without messing with the ECM? I thought that all 5 pin MAF's were the same. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention that all the wires are the same color on both piggy backs. The only difference between the 2 mafs are the shape of the plug, and overall diameter if the housing. The van MAF is much smaller.

I wouldn't risk it.

My reasoning is that the connector is different to keep this from happening, the diameter of the maf is specific to the sensor, so a reading from a sensor in an unoriginal housing will be off.

They probably are the same sensor, but the computers on each vehicle are probably calibrated for volume of air past that sensor through the specific size opening.

So if the lq4 sensor housing is bigger the lq4 harness and ecu expect that size housing, and we're calibrated for that opening. The truck with a 5.3 smaller housing is calibrated for air flow though the smaller opening.

So I wouldn't risk it. If the truck diameter is smaller your computer is expecting air through the larger diameter when there isn't that extra volume.
