Car won't start. Need help. fml

Hey guys, my car won't start.

I went to the grocery store last night, I parked and stopped the car in my space, and shut it off. I noticed the car was too far forward, so I started it again and backed up, and shut it off again. I did my shopping, and when I went to start the car again, it wouldn't crank. I couldn't even hear the starter trying to engage.

I got it home today and pulled the starter and battery, had them checked. They are both good.

I pulled the starter relay and checked for power on the wires. 1 was hot (red), and the other got hot (small green) when I tried to start the car.

I check the purple wire that goes from the relay box to the starter, for continuity, and it's good.

The hot wire to the starter, is hot. I tried to jump the starter and it jumped.

I bought a new relay, but I'm still not getting any current to the purple wire that goes to the starter.

I don't know what else to do. Can anyone give me some advice?

I have the factory security system. Is there a way that it's causing my car to not start? Can I bypass it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: 2000 Z28 btw....sorry.

Do you have a "security" light lit up on the cluster? If so i believe it's the Vats. Happened to me a few days ago

I did see the light on, and I saw it flash at some point, but I don't remember seeing what it was doing by the time I stopped working on it.

I'm tired now.

If it is the Vats, how do I fix it or bypass it?

Should I try getting a new key, or go for the vats bypass resistor thing?

LT1559, thanks for the tip.

I bypassed VATS and everything is good now.

How do you bypass the VATS? I've had my "security" light on for about a year now. Hasn't stopped but hopefully it doesn't anytime soon.

Jack, I measured the resistance of the "chip" on my key, it was 2.370 (2,370 ohms). Then I went to RadioShack and bought some resistors and made a resistor with the same resistance as the key. I soldered them together, cut the wire under the dash, and installed the resistor.

No problem, I actually still need to do mine haha. It's the shittiest feeling when you know you have power but doesn't even click or turn over

This just happened to me tonight about 15mins ago go be exact. Ill be disabling the system tomorrow hopefully.

I did this fixed just now and it starts up every time without any trouble. Simple and easy job. Thank you for the post.
