Default Where to buy replacement bolts for valve cover, coils....

Looking to replace a lot of bolts under the hood of my car. I'm putting a new motor in and want to replace some of the old ones. Looking for everything from valve covers, coil packs, transmission bolts and the works. Do you guys no any companies that sell kits like that or would I just have to call the deal? It's for a 2001 trans am. Thanks

Totally Stainless or ARP both sell engine bolt kits. TS roughly $90, ARP $$$, but they look good. I've seen some on eBay also.

If you want to save yourself some money, just measure one of each bolt and hit up a local hardware store

If you want stainless a kit might be the best way. I spent over $20 local for just the enough cap screws to mount the coils to the rails.

They are pretty cheap at Ace Hardware and good quality.

I'd put the stock bolts back in it. Steel and aluminum do not play nice together
and corrosion can happen pretty quick. GM uses a zinc coating that works well.
Most hardware store bolts are grade 2 although 5 & 8 can be found I would not use
them considering how flooded the market is with chinese imatations.

freak, take a look at Alloy Boltz (with the Z, put the words together and add .com for their web site). I've used them for years, lots of their bolts are ARP. Give Debbie, the owner, a call at 813 645-3185, if they don't have a 'kit' for your needs, they will make one for you.

As mentioned by sreve, different metals don't play well together, especially stainless steel! I like the 12 point stainless steel bolts, I always put a little anti-sieze on the threads before assembly, if you forget the anti-sieze you might not be able to remove it later.

Hope this helps.

Mike
