true duals with a cut out?
 

I'll have the car up on alift this weekend to possibly install a cut out or two on my true dual set up. i was thinking about this today and i have one already 2.5 inch that i could put after the X section.

A. Do you guys think i could just use one and get a benefit from it allowing some gases to escape though one of the dynomax bullets on the drivers side while the other side had a cut out open or do you think it would hurt performance.

B. should i just get anothe rone and put it on the other side to equal it out

C. just leave the true duals and skip any cut outs in the x pipe

what do you guys think i should do? just looking for some suggestions/opinions

If I had true duals I would not worry about a cutout.

I agree... if I had duals I wouldn't mess with cutouts. However, if you are set on having them, you should probably do 2. It's always best to have the system balanced.

I would NOT use cutouts.....They defeat the purpose of the scavenging effect the X-pipe creates. I'd say NO.......

Well, it'll defeat the purpose only if the cut-outs are right after the headers. If they're after the X-pipe then I'd still see little-to-no gains if you have a pair of high-flowing mufflers at the end. IMHO.

Yea depends on your mufflers. Any bullets and good flowing mufflers on there, and you should skip the cutout for sure.

a def no on cut outs, with tru duals its loud enough and flows good enough

see sig...agreed...they are a waste of time and money on a true dual dumped in a high flow bullet muffler. if you ended up over the axle and thru a standard muffler etc at the back similar to stock, then yeah go with cutouts before them, if you are dumping....skip em

Everyone here makes a good point. It all depends on how your system is set up. If you already have good flowing mufflers, cutouts will not increase power very much. Further more, if you put the cutouts right behind the X pipe, meaning close to the X pipe, you will lose the scavenging effect.

Now if you have it setup right, I think you could do duals with cutouts. I plan on having cutouts right before the rear axle. Ill have turbo mufflers behind the axle exiting the rear. Here's a diagram:

I think if its setup somewhat like this, with fairly restrictive / quiet mufflers instead of bullets, you should see some gains with the use of cutouts, as well as keeping the scavenging effect by keeping the distance between the X pipe and the cutouts as long as possible.

oh i have no cats, 2.5 in piping and bullets

so no go on the cut outs i was just wondering cause i can get one more for cost and i have one just laying around the shop. so no go, works for me.
