Help! I'm Confused! I've read so much about the crank bolt that I don't know what to do about mine.:( I need a long bolt to take account of the extended serpentine pulley for my dry-sump pump. I've got a nice 10.9 high-tensile one (like the stock OEM grade) that's just the right length but will it be ok to use it???? How should I tighten it???? Same as the stock bolt???? Because it's longer and is bound to be slightly different physically, it's going to tighten up a bit differently isn't it???? I've heard of a few problems with the crank bolt on the LS1. What are you all doing? Loctite? OEM torque spec? PLEASE HELP!!!! Especially if you have a dry-sump set up. Thanks, Tom. |
Your bolt should be fine. All the problems with the stock bolt are that they are torque-to-yield and cannot be reused. You will want to tighten it to factory specs. |
