1.8 rocker on mildly modified LS1 I know that 1.8 rockers don't show any major gains on a stock LS1 but are they worth it on my setup I currently have TSP 1¾ long tubes headers BBK intake and the BBk 85mm TB on the way.Stock cam and I don't plan on swapping it this year. Thank you |
YT 1.8's can make a difference, but to fully utilize them you need to change your springs because of the extra tip weight. I remember seeing a dyno of 18 rwhp gained from them when better springs were used. there's maybe an 8 rwhp gain with stock springs. so yes, it can make a difference. could cost you up to $600 though. only you know if that's worth it to you. |
is that $600 in parts or is install and tune included? |

You'll gain some power on the top-end with just going with better valve springs. I'd just drop some PAC1218s ($140) in there and call it done. if you stick with 1.7 rocker arms you'll have a lot more choices in cam lobes and shelf grind camshafts than with 1.8 rockers. |
yea,i was thinking hed be better off even with something as mild as an ls6 cam. i know i sold mine cheap and it sold quickly on here so im betting he can pick one up for less than what those 1.8s sell for. |

If you do decide to go with higher ratio rockers, (I still don't recommend, put that money towards a cam upgrade) I'd consider the SLP 1.85s rockers. They'll fit under the stock valve covers, and the weight over the valve stem will remain low, just like the factory 1.7 rockers. |
Thanks everyone I think I'll just get better springs and call it a day.I also considered a 4.10 ring and pinion swap but I heard that it's a bit complicated to do anyone have first hand experience? |
