Default K&N hp2006 tall oil filter

Has anybody had issues with this filter lately ?
I have bought this filter on 2 different occasions now and it's the wrong filter, it won't screw on. Did K&N change their part numbers ?
The top of the filter use to have a "G " stamped on it.

Well last night I went to vato zone and bought the 2006. I saw it had "13 " stamped on the top so I checkedd the 1007 (which is the short filter the book says to use for an ls1). The 1007 also had "13" stamped on the top of the filter.

Got home and guess what , 2006 wouldn't screw on. Which pissed me off.

Went back and exchanged it for a Delco. The delco (short) had a "G" stamped in top and it fit.

Wtf ?

GM replacement oil pans come with a different filter mount threaded adapter. It would require a different oil filter.

I can't imagine K&N put the later thread on what would be the original filter number-but it's possible.

Ops wrong section. I must have fat fingered it. Thought I put it in the gen 3 section.
Mods please move.

Oil pan is the stock original pan from 1998 f -body .

Doesn't sound right. The older short one is 1007, newer short one is 1017. I don't even see a listing for a newer tall one. Which delco part did you use?

I'm pretty sure the longer K&N filter part number is HP-3002. http://www.knfilters.com/search/kn_c...x?part=HP-3002
