Just finished swap... engine won't rev
 

I am just finishing a 5.3 vortec into a 1982 C10 truck swap. I used a chevy thunder wiring harness and tune. It is supposed to be in manual mode due to the trans in the truck is a TH375.

It cranks right up and idles like a champ but won't rev past 1500 RPM's.

I reset the PCM and I ran it (as instructed in his DVD material) 5 minutes cut it off wait 30 seconds fired it up. I have done this multiple times... it will not rev. It's like the MAF is disconnected. It is showing 48+ psi fuel pressure at idle and when I try to rev it, it goes up to 60. All connectors are plugged in. I pulled the MAF off my daily and installed it....same thing...won't rev. No codes at all.

I have no idea if abuse mode is in this PCM and have no way of finding out as all I have is a scanner currently. Any ideas as to a way to bypass the abuse mode if that's the problem. I am located in central Va. and do not know LS tuners. Thanks for any help.

What year 5.3 do you have? Unplug Maf and see if it will rev then.

2002. Unplugged maf ... nothing changed but the sec light came on. Still won't rev past 1500 rpm's.

Is that throttle cable or dbw? You will probably need someone with tuning software to take a look. When you push down the throttle does the throttle blade open all the way?

Yeah, it turned out supposedly there are two abuse modes one was turned off and the other was left on. Got it fixed yesterday. All good. Thanks.
