ls1 power gains off 243 heads alone and or Fast 90
I have seen posted intake and heads or cam and heads dyno comparisons. I have a 04 GTO LS1. I have a cam and long tubes. I have the stock ls6 intake manifold. I just got dyno tuned on a dyno jet and made 370/370.
First question is would it be possible to hit 400whp with stock 243 heads? 2nd my tuner said I could hit over 400whp with a fast 90 on my current setup. Do these intakes really flow that much better?

There has been lots of debate on the Fast brand of intakes and comparing them to a stock ls6 intake. Since you have a cam you'd probably see around a 15hp/tq increase with a Fast 90 but it depends on your cam specs. Now, if you bought a Fast 90 and had it ported as well, then you'd be looking at a little more power even.
As for 243's I think people generally see 15-25hp/tq increase over stock without a tune. Now with a tune after installing 243's you'd probably hit that 400hp/tq mark you're looking for. Porting these would also help even more too but that requires more $$$.
A Fast 92 or Fast 102 may even be beneficial to your set up. I say everything depends on your budget and cam specs though, just my .02$.

Some people say a Fast 102 is too big, but normally it's only too big if you have a stock cam. Since you have an aftermarket cam it's a toss up depending on your specs i'd say.
I'd say 243's are the best bang for the buck because you can find some for around 400$ as where a Fast intake is really expensive. But as for injectors that's close to border line I think, people have run stock injectors up to 450hp, others say to upgrade to at least 30# injectors. The stock injector size is 28.8# I think. Hope that helps a little.

Vengeance posted in the Dyno forum the other day. FAST 102 was picking up like 25/22 over the LS6.
Stock 243s will pick up about 20rwhp. So the FAST may pick up more. However, ported 243s will pick up probably 40-55rwhp depending on compression and port job quality.
My advice is to do heads first. Always. Even ported 5.3L heads will pick up 40rwhp over stock LS1 heads. Then pair with the FAST. Budget heads + FAST will out power aftermarket heads + LS6 intake for the same price.
