Default Improved Racing F-Body Oil Cooler Kit

Our oil cooler kit for the LS1 F-Body is good to go and we are now taking pre-orders.

Here's the link with more info: http://www.improvedracing.com/oil-cooler-k...-kit-p-560.html

The kit will be available with our thermostatic adapter (EGM-112 or the high-temp EGM-113) or our non-thermostatic adapter (EGM-106).

We would like to get an idea for how many we should build for the first batch, so we have started taking pre-orders. Anyone who pre-orders will get a $20 discount and we will not charge your card until your order ships. If you're interested in purchasing one, please place a pre-order. If we don't get enough interest we may not produce this kit.

We will start building the kits late this month or once we have 10 pre-orders, whichever comes first. We just need to have the brackets and custom lines made and take photos for the instruction manual.

This kit is 100% bolt on and uses factory mounting points on the Camaro and Firebird. The oil cooler is located in the lower left front bumper inlet, so it doesn't block air flow to the radiator. It does require deleting the fog lights in the Camaro if you have them.

Please post up if you have any questions or feedback!

We need to get a car in here and take some better pics, but here's a pic of what it looks like from the front bumper on a TA:

^ How about a photo or two of it mounted from the mounting points? TIA

Oh and a Memorial Day sale code wouldn't hurt either!

Do you sell just the oil pan adapter to AN? I would assume it would fit a LQ4 pan...

Yes, all of our oil cooler adapters are listed here: http://www.improvedracing.com/oiling...rs-c-3_18.html

The only way for us to get the price down is to use cheaper lines and fittings instead of BMRS. Is that something you guys would be interested in?

We are essentially using some of the best lines and fittings money can buy, and maybe that's overkill for an F-Body.

I would have an option to run standard line and barbed fittings... should bring the price down a bit.

Considering the ammount of $$$ I spent on the 6.0/4l80 conversion and procharger setup its almost shameful to think $700 for a Quality oil cooler is high.

That cooler looks alot like the air to water heat exchanger on the old Intercooled Vortech kits for these cars.

The price.....yeah. But realistically, I don't think you're gonna get airflow in that location. Not trying to down what looks to be a very nice product just being realistic. I relocated a transmission cooler to the front of the car like this and actually cut a hole for air to hit it. My trans temps skyrocketed. I couldn't believe air wasnt flowing over the cooler. I ended up having to add a fan to keep the temps in check. The simple just of it is, air does NOT flow through the bumper, even when there is a hole present.

That cooler will get just about zero airflow in that position. It MUST be mounted in front of the condensor....but at least 2 inches away from the condensor.

So why do you guys think that location gets no air flow? We've used coolers in similar locations on other cars (not F-Body) and it worked great. I guess we will have to measure the airflow in that location to be sure and post up the results.

man you should check out tompkins industries. I use their premade hose w/ ends for trans lines. I had 2 10 ft lines made for $150 and its rated to 2-3,000 psi and somewhere around 500*
