So Does Anyone Plan to Test the MSD intake on Cathederal Heads?

I feel like vendors aren't eager to do this. If the FAST outperforms the MSD then they'll be stuck with the MSD sitting on the shelves. Ive seen the tests on Vettes which makes sense because their demographic has more money to spend on mods/testing whereas the F-body crowd for the most part is more budget minded.

The Alchemist will be doing this. He has cathedral port heads, but is also Procharged, so not exactly what you're looking for. I'm sure as time passes, you'll see some back to back results pop up, but I agree that I wouldn't expect anything from any of the vendors. This is a business, and if they carry FAST products, it's not going to be good business showing the MSD outperforms the FAST because that will hurt their FAST sales, and vice-versa. Your best bet is to have an individual do back to back testing with the FAST and MSD, but that takes time, money, and the availability of a dyno.

I do not see it happening any time soon(from vendors). The dyno tests I have seen so far do not look very good for the MSD...at least on a small cube na LS motor. If I recall not much was gained on a LS7 H/C setuo...Especially with the extra effort required to install the thing. Im glad I went with a tried and true Fast.

If they believe in their product and no one is testing it, they need to make some arrangements. How are they going to get anyone to buy it. These days no one is going to spend that much without some sort of testing. The FAST intake is a good product that they have to compete against. If there is a 12-15 hp improvement I think a lot of people would switch.

Back in November in the big atomic thread Texas Speed said they were going to test one. Now they have several in stock and all is quiet on this thing. Not knocking Texas Speed here at all, but they and many shops are fully equipped to do a dyno test comparison. IDK, maybe they already have......
And yes, that throttle cable bracket is FUBAR, but it's clearly that because this was designed as a drive by wire intake first and this was the only way to make it work with drive by cable. The pass plenum is in the way of normal cable routing and nothing can be done about it.
Now this is just my opinion here, but I think this should have been made from the get go for aftermarket rails and a crossover. That break in the middle to fit ls2 rails has to be hurting airflow to the rear cylinders. Has to!

The same with all the other shops you mention. They're not going to spend money and time to say "x intakes makes more power than y intake" then watch the sales of y intake tank because of it.

Yes and they also carry FAST intakes. So by doing this test, they are basically alienating one or the other on their shelves. Why on earth would they do that?

I can understand not testing them if you don't have the facility. The other testing has been with the LS7 version which is very different than the LS1 version so the results are not in. I had thought the LS7 version had the most potential because those heads flow incredible numbers compared to the cathedral heads.
I thought most were interested in making the most power from an LS motor and helping the community with good information. Maybe I'm wrong.

UNDER PRESSURE MOD

It was mentioned above, I have one, and am very impressed with it. I'm running a F1-A procharger on a LS3 416ci motor, looking to push about 15-20psi of boost. I really liked what I saw at SEMA and made arrangements to get one. Unfortunately, I am not exactly what you are looking for mod wise, but I've gone through the install process and can help anyone with questions.
As far as the throttle cable bracket, it looks fine to me. I'm not sure exactly what people wanted to see with it, but I like it. Once I break in my new twin disc, and get the motor tuned, I'll toss it on the rollers for some numbers. Again, it won't mean much to some, but what can you do, you can't make everyone happy.

The excitement of having something new aside, the lesson regarding the best intake flow on cathedral port, NA, LS1 stock cubes has been learned. So, unless the engine is sprayed or uses forced induction, don't expect better than what a FAST or an LS6 intake can provide. Should probably include RAM air set ups in the forced induction/sprayed group. The benefits of RAM air aren't seen in dyno testing & may be able to overcome most NA intake related restrictions.

I really don't care if the MSD out performs the FAST, but I hope it performs as well as the FAST. I just like it better. I have an LS6 intake, so to me, it's one or the other. Being fresh to a performance intake gives me the option to choose one of them, and as long as the MSD is on par with the FAST, that will be the intake I choose. I would just like to see a NA H/C 346 dyno graph before I spend that money. So the wait continues...
