The benefit is better flow with equals more power. The 4" is the better choice. This is what I run on my HCI LQ9, and it made a noticeable difference over the crappy Pacesetter merge

I had similar results with a 3.5" merge and cutout setup like yours into the stock T/A catback when I was cam n ported heads. It made 375rwhp open and only lost 7hp when closed. Sounded awesome but thats about where the benefits ended. I swear from a roll it pulled harder with the cutout closed.

Mine only picks up .05 at the track with the cutout open. Imo on a stock cube engine the 3.5 vs 4 merge is going be within a few hp at most
