Default Long crank 6.0 with super t10

Hi all

Im running into some confusion regarding the 1999-2000 6.0 engines. I want to run a super t10 behind one. Which bellhousing, flywheel would i use ? Some people say this won't work ? Ive heard the lt1 t56 bolts up so i dont see why my st10 wont. Ill make a how to thread for this soon.

My plan is to turf the iron heads and go with 317 heads and a big cam and carb. Thanks

Thank you.

Garys 68 on here had a write up on the T-10/Muncie to LS swap one time...

I don't remember if he addresses the long crank issue or not...but a pretty good read.

Here's the link...

621 bellhousing
Standard ls flywheel for that year engine.
Ls7 pilot bearing.

No flywheel that I know of will work with the 99-00 long crank and allow the starter to engage. They were only used on auto trans cars.
Although I think I saw where someone bolted the auto flexplate under a flywheel. Not sure how well it worked.

I see that mcleod makes a flywheel pn 460537 for this application. I'm not sure if its worth using this flywheel amd alum heads though. An aluminum head 6.0 may be cheaper than the combo

Update

Mcleod part number 460537 can be used for this application according to their applications engineer. The flywheel has the appropriate dimensions such that the starter will lineup. Any standard st10 bellhousing will work. I'll update in a few weeks and let you know how it goes!

Gary86hatch is correct you will need a 621 Big block Chevy bell 11". One from a small block will not work. The 621 bell has the munice pattern and will work with super t10. The Ls7 pilot works to extend the output shaft, you may not need this do to the long crank on that early LQ4 you have, it is needed with the later short cranks.

Casper , I did this swap with the Mcleod flywheel . It worked great . I used Mcleods pilot bushing adapter also . I have a steel blow proof bell housing that was on my early SBC motor and I also used the clutch I had as well . It had the bolt pattern for it . Also used my mechanical linkage as well . You cam use a small block bell housing it just has to be a 11" one .Early big blocks and small blocks have the same bolt pattern

Copying this post from another thread, but check this out :

Ok now I'm a little creeped out. My buddy told me he has a flat flywheel which has a .4in spacer in it. He brought it over and we removed the spacer. We bolted it up to my motor and held the starter in place. It looks like it will engage perfectly. Checkout this drawing I made. GM part number is 12561758. Anyone have any comments here ? Does this look promising ??
