Default 92 MM Instake Manifold Install/Tune Question

A few years ago, I bought a bunch of upgrade parts for my 2000 SS Camaro. The upgrade has been put on hold until now.

I have the NW 92mm throttle body and am considering going ahead and picking up an intake manifold.

My question is will I be able to drive the car after the installation of the intake manifold and the 92mm throttle body without a tune? I will need to drive the car to a tuner to get everything tweaked.

Last question.. Do you guys know of anyone in the south Texas that can tune an LS1: I am in Corpus Christi..

Thanks!

How far is the tuner? I'm sure you'll be able to make it.

Thanks for the information. I'll give them a call tomorrow and go from there.

I have never tuned the car after the T-1 cam install way back in 2001 and it needs it

Cheers!

I had my ls6 car tuned with headers, lid, etc and then installed the fast 92. Drove it for a month before i got it tuned again. No issues. Didn't really even hurt the drivability at the time

That is good to hear and thank you.

Btw, do you guys know of a data base showing mods vs horsepower? I seam to recall one years ago but haven't been able to find it.

I am curious as to what kind of numbers I might get with just the following mods and a tune.

MTI T-1 cam
Air Lid
Random Tech catback
Cutout

My car dynod 338.5 HP and 338.4 TQ with the mods listed above and no tune.

ASP under drive pulley has been installed since the run mentioned above.

Cheers!

Qfly, long time time ago a friend had a 98 WS6 with Mac intermediate headers, no cats, lid, cut out, K&N air filter and few other basic mods. His car was about 330ish wheel hp IIRC.

With the T1 cam, ASP under drive pulley & LS1 edit tuning the car made 361(closed cut out) to 365 (open cut out) wheel hp. I might be off 1 or 2 hp because that was like 12-14 years ago. With the newer tuning software you might get a little bit more hp. The intermediate MAC headers didn't help the torque as much as good long tubes would have. The heads on the 98's are down a few hp compared to the later heads so 365 to 375 would be likely with 99+ heads. While on paper it looked like a 35 hp gain peak to peak the T1 rev'd higher and was a much bigger gain in the 5500 to 6500 rpm range and overall area under the curve. The T1 was a good cam and a worthwhile mod. His car sounded good and it drove well.

FWIW - I was always more of a B1 fan, same cam as T1 but on 114 LSA instead of 112.

That is encouraging news for sure.. You mentioning the ASP underdrive pulley helped me remember that I also installed that a few years back

Horsepower aside, my main concern is getting the engine running in an optimal format: the horsepower is a nice side effect of the mods.

Cheers!

I think you'll be fine. My car is tuned for the mods in my signature, and I've got a FAST 92/92 on the car (well, almost done), and I plan on driving it over to my tuner.
