Default Installed Pacesetters, ORY sucks!

Installation of the headers was a breeze, but everyone here was right about the Y-pipe. A complete pain in the *** to go in. My car'[s interior shakes a bit now, I don't know if this is due to the Y-hitting the floor or what the deal is. There is no banging but at certain RPMs some of the interior shakes and rattles a bit. Let me know what this is if anyone here knows. I'll try to get underneath tomorrow and pry the Y as far away from the floor as possible. On the Driver's side I could not get the Y all the way in on the header collector, so that little tab that has to be anchored down with a 10mm nut is not holding it down.
I love the way my car sounds with my Borla fully open but I think I'm going to mess around with the plates tomorow. Again if anyone has a clue as to why my interior shakes a bit please post something. It might just be the Y rattling on my floorboard.

I might be wrong but, I think your computer needs to adjust to the changes in air flow. I had a exhaust leak and my car idled fine. I fixed the leak and my car started idling rough (interior shook). I was told that I needed to unhook my battery for 1 hour and then hook it back up. Or just drive it and let the computer relearn. Like I said I am not sure if this relates to your problem but might be worth a try.

do not bolt that tab down, i dont know what they were thinking with that. you need to expand the pipes to get it to fit right.

do not bolt the tab? are you sure about this? the biggest problem around here where I live is that no muffler shops have 3in pipe expanders. Oh, well they're in and that's all that matters. I hope the interior stops shaking though. its not too bad, its only at around 2K rpms.

I cut 2 strips of radiator hose, and installed them between the tab and the car. it reduce the vibrations for the most part. I do notice some vibrations, but they are minor and I believe expected from long tubes.

I agree completely on the y pipe. I was CRUISING during the install until I got to it.

At least you were able to get the ypipe on. My QTP ORY pipe did have a chance at fitting so i drove with open headers to lanes.

yes i would not bolt that down, if you think about it, your transferring all the motor shake, torque and vibrations right to the body, there is no rubber there to absorb this. i dont know what they were thinking with that. i cant imagine not having a muffler shop that cannot work on 3" pipe, shoot dont diesel trucks have like 4"?? i heard autozone or other places like that carry pipe expanders you can rent.

I disagree, the y-pipe bracket bolts to the transmission so there shouldn't be any more vibration transmitted to the body unless something's hitting.

If you open your hood is your engine moving around more? Or is it more like a resonant thing?

You're going to get a little more noise/vibration just from the headers themselves... this is the case with any set of headers. I especially get more vibration because of the Pro 5.0 shifter I have installed, along with my poly transmission mount.

You're lucky if you're not getting any banging at all with the Pacesetter ORY, though...

no bamging , just a bit of vibration. I'll try to get under the car today to switch to a smaller plate on my Borla. Tjhe exhaust tone is a bit too much for me at around 2k RPMs.

nooo im not talking about the trans hanger, on the newer design their is a tab on the drivers side that you can bolt to the little bolt on the bottom of the car, dumb idea.

I get vibration from my new pacesetters at idle. It's nothing I can't live with but it is there. I'd rather have a little vibration than a rattle.

Oh my bad, i know what you're talking about now.

Well if the vibration is cowl shake then maybe you should look at poly motor mounts. When I had just a cam my shifter shook like crazy, put the driver's side poly mount in with the headers and now it barely shakes.

OK, to clear things up. No shake at idle or acceleration, but when I let go of the throttle at around 2K RPMs to shift gears the interior vibrates briefly. I can live with it, but would rather not have it.
