Default Issues after installing headers

Hey guys I just finished installing some longtube headers and the car runs like poop. It's a ls1 with 243 heads and a ls6 hot cam. After about 1/3 of throttle input the car starts to backfire and pop out the exhaust. It also doesn't accelerate well at all. Any ideas as to what it might be?

Thanks!

You have an exhaust leak that is affecting the front oxygen sensors.

Ooooo ok. I had to extent the oxygen sensors too. I might have messed up the wiring. Could it be that as well?

You need a tune. That is why.

Possibly, disconnect the front oxygen sensors to see if the car runs better.

To find an exhaust leak, the best way is to get under the car when it's cold, start the car and then feel around the exhaust pipes for any air coming out

With cars with obd2, they just plug a computer in and make sure there's no obvious aftermarket stuff and that all the emissions stuff is in the engine bay. If your headers aren't chrome, or very obviously aftermarket, you are fine

Interesting! Yeah, I knew the OBD2 changed the game, but to me, any headers would be pretty obvious, as Gen IV Camaros all came with cast manifolds. I thought the mere sight of headers would flunk a test at the outset. Maybe times are getting better!

Ya I mean as long as it's not bright and flashy, your exhaust should be fine

Mine didn't come with cast iron manifolds.

That's right! The earlier LS1's came with "tubular exhaust manifolds". Calling them headers would be a stretch, as the later cast manifolds actually outperformed them. Or so I've heard.
