Default Help needed with wiring

OK so I put an 5.3 LS into my son's 98 gmc swb.
Admittedly I have trouble with wiring.
My question is......
Do I use some of the 98s original wiring like the starter wires?
I hooked up THE LS wires to the starter and the purple wire from the 98 and I still can't get the engine to turn over. Do I use sum of the 98, none of 98? The harness for THE LS came with the fuse panel if that will help me. Do I keep the 98 computer?
I'm at my wits end, if anyone can help I will owe you BIGTIME!!
THANX KEVIN

Is the engine harness converted to stand alone config?

I would start with that, then you only extend the wires for the cab harness that you need.
*Ignition, gauges, start circuit

A good wiring diagram for the truck is highly recommended.

Use the original truck starter wires. No reason to use what was in the LS harness for starting.

No, you wont need that computer. Where did you get the LS harness? Is it the original engine harness or a harness you bought ?

You run the engine harness and the computer from the 5.3 motor.

You don't need help with wiring, you need help with searching. Use Google, search for c1500 5.3 engine swap wiring and the results should tell you how to do and find what you need

I don't mean to be a ***** about it but you can't just slap a new motor in there and twist some wires to get it running

I know you can't throw a new engine in, twist a few wires together and that's it.
I have 2 harness, and 2 comp. I sent the original harness/comp to Kenny Cash in Nebraska on Mar 28th and on July 28th the **** still hadn't done **** to either one. So I had to go buy another comp/harness so I could get the FREAKIN swap done. Had a guy local prog comp, and are using the stock(NOT CUT DOWN harness) for now so I can get the dam thing driving down the road.
I've been married 2 times so don't worry about hurting my feelings!!!!! USABLE INFO IS ALL I CARE ABOUT!!!!
THANX for the help
