Front sump pan I'm putting a LS in a rear engine sand rail, and will probably go with a front sump pan, has anyone used anything that is a little cheaper than the GTO pan? |
I picked my GTO pan up used. It was reasonably priced. Is a common swap for Chevy II's. You might find a used one in the classifieds here or on stevesnovasite.com. |
Check 04-06 GTO Trade and sell on fac-book. Improved racing makes a baffle for that pan also. |
Full Length Oil Pan Hi, I cast a "full length" Oil Pan made for Sand Cars/Mid Engine Cars. I can send some pictures ? I have had better luck with a "full length" pan as the same angle occurs when gong DOWN a STEEP Dune. I also have the Holden Pan (used, like new). What is the cost of the one you found ? Lance |
Thanks for the replies, I'll check those sites. Lance, PM sent. |
Full Length Oil Pan 3 Attachment(s) Hi, this Cast Oil Pan is MADE to strengthen the AL Block, VERY Thick Walls. This IS a requirement of the OEM GM Oil Pan, to make the block flex less. The use of a rear engine position in Desert Racing allows for rocks/stones that can puncture the "sheet metal" oil pan, NOT this cast pan. The Oil Bosses "relocate" the filter AWAY from the rocks AND the use of a Standard size GM filter increases the filtration area with MUCH more Oil Flow. There are TWO Oil Drain Plugs with magnets included allowing for either engine angle required for a complete oil drain. Discounts are given to LS-1 Tech Members, thus the same price as in your PM. Trailblazer SS is a front sump pan also. |
