Question LS6 Intake : Worth it for my ride ?

ok.. I have a 98 stock A4 [w/3.23s] TA right now. The mods I am doing are:

1) SLP Lid and,
2) Magnaflow Catback

That's it for now!

Is it worth it for me to do the LS6 Intake at this point? I'm probably never going to do a cam, rockers etc etc...

If you dont plan on doing a cam then I would say no. It isnt worth your time/money to do the install. At this point you arent going to feel much change from the intake, so I would say no.

don't waste your time right now on the ls6 intake manifold.
the best mod you can do for your car would be a high stall torque converter.

they cost around 500 bucks and you will see a huge gain compared to the intake, and it's only about 200 dollars more.

just somehting to think about

on a 98 car it should be worth 8-10 rwhp. That is worth the cash to me.

You arent going to feel 8-10 rwhp, and if you dont plan on doing serious mods, I dont see how its worth it. Like marcus said, a stall would be a much better mod no matter what his future plans are.

seems like the general consensus is against the LS6 Intake at this point..

How much more HP would I be putting to the wheels with a TC ? Also, what kinda TC [and with what stall] would you guys recommend ? Its a 98 with 3.23 gears..

This will be a daily driven car, with occasional track events.. nothing major

You won't get more hp to the ground. You will get into your powerband quicker and make more torque off the line which will make you faster.

A Vig 2800 is a good street TC. Or a Vig 3200 if you want a bit more performance.

And yes, TC before Intake.

Ah.. thanks Ed .. I think I'll do " Headers - !EGR - !A.I.R - LS6 Intake " together.. sometime later... What sucks is, I already bought the Intake with LS6 plugs, pipe, and EGR/AIR Block off Kit I wonder how much of that $370 I will recover!!

since you already have the intake look into a cam or headers like you mentioned.

then add a stall.

I would keep the intake around. I would definitely do a 3200+ stall, then long tube headers, then the intake. You should see a very nice gain in ET from those 3 mods.

Since you already have the intake, keep it. Every little bit counts. That is my next mod.

Since you already have it, and the money is spent... install it. I am going the all bolt on route w/ a stock TC. I have an LS6 intake on it's way currently, and LT's sitting here in the box. It's a route less traveled, but here are two examples of cars done this way: Stew 01' Z Jersey TA

since you already paid for the intake midas well install it..but as for the tc, a 3000 to 3500 stall is good, 3500 being borderline drive -ability

check out midwest tc's, they are very affordable and good quality and they are about 500 bucks, pi and vigilante will run you close to 800 bucks.

and expect to cut about 4 to 5 tenths off with a converter usually.

hope this helps
