Question BBK 1-3/4” headers with 2.5” ORY any good?

I have this on my 00 camaro and I am wondering when will this setup be a restriction or when would it be better to upgrade to a 1-3/4” or 1-7/8” headers with a 3” y pipe like from speed engineering?
Car has mainly bolt ones, nothing fancy and a stock cat back exhaust on it.
I may do a single 3” out the back exhaust one day and ls6 intake.
Maybe a small cam one day with a full tune

So you wanna know when your current setup will become a restriction?

Restrictive in a significant way probably not till like 600-700 hp. Regardless of that you might as well go with the 1 7/8" headers since it doesn't really cost any more, and will support a little more potential down the road

You will see gains stepping up to 1 7/8'' LTs and 3'' Y-pipe. If it were me id look at doing the Speed Engineering 1 7/8'' Lts, 3'' X-pipe, true duals, used FAST or TPIS 90mm snout LS6 intake, and 3:90 gears for the car.

And just to give you a really fair back to back comparison, my buddy switched from Speed Engineering 1 3/4 headers to their 1 7/8 ones and picked up exactly 5 hp on the same dyno one week apart. It gained nothing down low until after around 4k. This was on a heads and cam LS1 as well

That car probably already had a 3'' Y-pipe on it, right? I would say another 5whp there. Speed Engineering headers are likely better design than BBKs too so gains to be had everywhere.

Yep exactly. So just the 1 7/8" headers gained him 5 hp

Well if there’s isn’t a significant gain you are saying at this time and with what I am going to do next to it.
*** next is just an ls6 intake, maybe a full single 3” exit exhaust and a full tune wether or not I do the 3” exhaust ***
i might as well keep what I got right now until I decide what’s next with a cam, heads then buy the larger headers.
I wished they made a full dual 2.5” exhaust setup as I’m not going for big power numbers on this daily.

There was a guy on here years ago who made 445 rwhp with that setup. You could search this forum and try to find his thread. The point being, you're a long way from exhausting the power potential of those pieces.

My buddy ran this BBK setup with a ON3 catback, and it's honestly one of the better sounding setups I've heard on these cars.
