Default Need a MAP sensor grommet ? Wanna save money ?

So you pull your intake off and you check the MAP sensor and find the grommet on it is a little old and smushed.....you could get a new sensor or just get a new grommet......GM p/n 16194007 is a little pricey at 8$ for a small piece of rubber.....or you can get 10 grommets from cometic ( p/n C9630 ) for the princely sum of 14.99 ( summit website ) .....yes folks a whole 1.50 a grommet

So what you're saying is you spent $15 instead of $8 and this is somehow a deal? You do realize it took 15 YEARS for that grommet to dry out - do you even think you're gonna remember where you put those extra grommets the next time you need one? When you can buy them one at a time, let me know.

LOL that's the way I read it.

However, there is one of those seals on the fuel tank pressure sensor also (it's just a "map" sensor) if you need one there too.

if you rather spend 8$ on one grommet.....be my guest......but the rubber/silicone gaskets/grommets dont last as long as you think......they lose their shape and no longer seal......intake gaskets....throttle body gaskets.....the rubber part of my oil pan gasket causing a very nice leak

the sensor grommet on the fuel bucket is a different color so i dont know if it would use the same P/N...have not looked into that yet

I deal with them all day as a tech and have for many years. I've never had one cause a leak that someone didn't cause. The oil pan gaskets don't last very long, the seals on the TB and intake are a different story. I pull a lot of intakes and throttle bodies, I'm always surprised how good of condition TB gaskets are in. However you're working on a roughly 18 year old car, so yeah pretty much everything will be worn.

Well I did kinda make an apples to oranges comment that wasn't fair, most of them that I have apart are not as old, so they are in better shape.

Those gaskets you have there though, do tear very easily. It's funny sometimes I pull them out gently when I need to reuse them and they are fine sometimes they tear. When I change fuel pumps I rip the wiring and sending units and pressure sensors off sometimes to save them for spares, when I rip the sensor out with that seal without caring, it's usually fine.
