Need Help With Motor Mount Replacement I am changing out the motor mounts and have run into a problem. I am following this amazing write up: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...otsa-pics.html I have run into a problem though. I am trying to remove the driver's side mount and I can't get the large 18mm bolt out because of a sensor. In the write up above, I do not see the sensor (that I have on my car). My car is a 2000 firebird (trans am if that matters). This is MY car with the orange sensor in the way. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...0d5ca35cbe.jpg This is the pic from the write up...no orange sensor. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...093981f4df.jpg What is this sensor and how do I get the mount bolt out? Remove the senor? I could cut the 18mm bolt, replace it and put it in backwards??? And yes its grimy in there! Still cleaning up a major power steering issue. I promise I'll clean it up before the headers go on! |
Cut the bolt and put it in backwards. That's the best option |

As said already remove the whole pedestal and mount as an assembly. Isn't that "sensor" the block heater? Should be able to unplug it. |

When I did mine this last summer I removed the pedestal with it also. Was actually pretty easy till you put it back together and line it back up! Good luck! |
I was able to get mine out with the block heater in place, but I had the transmission and passengers side mount removed already at the time, so I had a lot movement to work with. When reassembling, I put the bolt in backwards. |
